چکیده

We demonstrate tunable, single-pulse spectral phase measurement of broadband ultrafast signals by linear spectral interferometry. The approach is based on a coherently coupled pair of optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs). The first amplifier is the source of a signal pulse that is coupled into a nonlinear medium, where the pulse generates a broadband signal by nonlinear interactions; the second OPA provides a phase-correlated reference pulse that can be tuned across the broad spectral range and used for complete characterization of the broadband signal generated by the first OPA. An experimental demonstration of the technique for a nonlinearly modulated femtosecond pulse with a bandwidth of .200 nm occupying the range 1.13–1.36 mm is given. © 2005 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 320.0320, 320.7100, 190.4970.

Seeding of picosecond and femtosecond optical parametric amplifiers by weak single mode continuous lasers.

Optical parametric amplifiers are typically seeded with either parametric superfluorescence or broadband continuum pulses. We show both with picosecond and femtosecond pump pulses, that single longitudinal mode cw lasers with mW power can be well used to generate nearly Fourier-transform-limited output pulses. The 532 nm pumped picosecond system is seeded in the near infrared and fully tunable ...

Bandwidth enhancement for parametric amplifiers operated in chirped multi-beam mode

In this paper we discuss the bandwidth enhancement that can be achieved in multi-Joule optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) systems exploiting the tunability of parametric amplification. In particular, we consider a pair of single pass amplifiers based on potassium dideuterium phosphate (DKDP), pumped by the second harmonic of Nd:glass and tuned to amplify adjacent regions of ...

Tunable coupled-mode dispersion compensation and its application to on-chip resonant four-wave mixing.

We propose and demonstrate mode coupling as a viable dispersion compensation technique for phase-matched resonant four-wave mixing (FWM). We demonstrate a dual-cavity resonant structure that employs coupling-induced frequency splitting at one of three resonances to compensate for cavity dispersion, enabling phase matching. Coupling strength is controlled by thermal tuning of one cavity enabling...

Impact of Input Pump Profile on the Gain Spectrum and the Saturation Behavior of One-Pump Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifiers

In this article, the impact of input pump profile on the gain spectrum as well as the saturation behavior of one-pump fiber optical parametric amplifiers (FOPAs) is investigated. Since in practical circumstances, pump sources used for FOPAs have Lorentz-Gaussian profile instead of Gaussian, a more realistic case is considered for simulating FOPAs in this article. The results of simulations for ...

Impact of Fourth-Order Dispersion Coefficient on the Gain Spectrum and the Saturation Behavior of One-Pump Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifiers

In this paper, the gain spectrum and the saturation behavior of one-pump fiber optical parametric amplifiers (1-P FOPAs) are investigated by taking into account the fourth-order dispersion coefficient b4 in the analysis. The results show that it is necessary to consider b4 in the analysis when the wavelength difference between the signal and pump waves is large enough and/or whenever the pump w...
